Whipped coffee also known as Dalgona coffee is in trend these days. So, you would also like to try out this yummy coffee recipe. You will even love the taste more if it costs you very little.
So, today I will be sharing the two most easy methods of making whipped coffee with only 4 basic ingredients.
Before sharing the methods with you, I would like to make you aware of what whipped coffee is.
What is whipped coffee?
Whipped coffee is a creamy b, frothy mixture of coffee served over lukewarm milk or iced milk. Whipped coffee is popularly known as Dalgona coffee which is the most popular beverage in South Korea. Whipped coffee is common even in Greece where it is known as Frappe coffee. In India, people call it beaten coffee.
Method 1: - Whipped coffee with 4 ingredients whisked together ( instant coffee, sugar, milk, and water)
This whipped coffee is a type of Korean coffee. It is easy to make and the texture of this whipped coffee is fancy. If you want to enjoy coffee drinks just like the coffee shop serves you, you are at the right place. Have a look at the 3 easy steps.
Step 1-
Take 1 to 2 tablespoons each of instant coffee, sugar, and water. You can even double or triple the batch for a thick and greater concentration of whipped coffee.
Step 2-
Whisk these 3 ingredients thoroughly for 10 to 15 minutes. After 10 minutes approximately, you will notice that the liquid-like textured dark coffee turns into a lighter and thicker consistency. You do not have to stop here. Continue whisking until you notice that the coffee turns even lighter in color than before. You will soon see that the coffee mixture creates a creamy frothy whipped texture with the whisk forming peaks. This cream will somewhat resemble peanut butter. That is the trick for you to know that you are done with whisking. The cream turns much thicker and keeps its shape.
Step 3-
You are now ready for the third and final step of the beaten coffee recipe.
Just spoon out that mixture over hot milk or water, give it a thorough stir, and enjoy the super delicious hot whipped coffee.
NOTE: You can have this mixture over chilled milk if you are a lover of cold whipped coffee just like me. Cold coffee is best for hot summer afternoons.
You can even serve the whipped coffee mixture over iced water / warm water just like an Americano and enjoy yourselves.
Can I make whipped coffee without instant coffee? People often ask this question. So, my second method of making whipped coffee deals with this very question.
Method 2:- Whipped coffee with coffee beans blended.
Step 1-
Pour a scoop of coffee beans into a grinder or blender. Suppose you don't have a blender you need not worry. Replace the coffee grinder with a grinding stone. This might be time-consuming but it meets the need for whipped coffee on a low budget.
Step 2-
Once the coffee beans are finely ground, pass them through a fine strainer. Now, you can use this coffee powder to make whipped coffee easily at home.
Step 3-
Follow the similar steps as mentioned in method 1 for the further process.
NOTE: You can even get similar whipped results if you replace the coffee powder with cocoa powder or match powder. I haven't given it a try yet.
Tips and Tricks for making whipped coffee
1) Use hot water for the best result: Coffee powder will whip nicely with cold or room temperature water, but it is my personal experience that hot water works best and fast. Thus, you should prefer hot water for whipping the coffee powder.
2) Use a bowl to whisk the ingredients: Whipped coffee gets fluffy through the interaction with air. And so mug or jar with a tall height won't let enough air circulation around. It's advisable to use a bowl to whisk the coffee.
3) Use a spoon or straw to mix the whipped coffee before sipping: I know it's fancy and appealing to serve whipped creamy coffee on top of the drink. But I would suggest mixing the cream around thoroughly to enjoy the full dip and deepest flavor.
Frequently asked questions
1) What type of sugar goes best with whipped coffee?
The basic and best recipe for whipped coffee calls for granulated sugar.
However, you might use sweeteners such as brown sugar, coconut sugar, or fruit sweetener. I have tried only granulated sugar to date.

Yes, you can skip the sugar or reduce the sugar quantity. But, then the coffee won't be as fluffy as compared to the sugar-added recipe.
3) Which instant coffee is best to be used in this recipe?
You can go with any brand of instant coffee you have in your pantry.
I like Nescafe as it is popular and easily available in the market.
