This March 17th, as we lift our glasses and toast those magnificent Irish folks who came before us, we're ecstatic to celebrate the rich and captivating culture of Ireland.
We all know that St. Patrick's Day celebration isn't complete without a touch (or more!) of green; but what about other colors? What other colors represent this Irish holiday?
To answer that question, we've done some research to find out where the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebration is. We looked at our user data since 2021 and found that the following cities attract the most travelers in March.
1. Dublin, Ireland
It is known for its lively scene where people come from across the world to celebrate their Irish heritage with family and friends.
The city is home to many temples of both Guinness and Jameson, which are the go-to drinks for celebrating the best St Patrick's Day traditions.
2. Chicago
IL hosts a parade that attracts over one million people. The parade, which starts at Balbo and Columbus, features bagpipe players from around the world who come to celebrate their Irish heritage.
It's no wonder why–the Chicago River turns the emerald color of Ireland with dye specially made for the day.
3. Boston
MA is famous for its one-of-a-kind St. Patrick's Day celebration that takes place on the city's oldest bridge, the Charles River Bridge.
There are plenty of events for adults, but especially noteworthy is a large number of family-friendly activities. Boston has a 4-mile long parade route that attracts thousands of people each year!
Every year, they also have a ceremonial parade that dates back to 1901.
4. New York
NY is the host of one of the largest St Patrick's Day parades in the world, which takes place on 5th Avenue.
This event is the highlight of the Manhattan social scene. If you're lucky, you'll come across many celebrities throughout the parade route.
The parade consists of over 150 units and an estimated two million people attend each year.
5. Portland
OR has an annual event called "St Patrick's Day Dash!" where they close down a main street in the city and host a 5K race where participants can wear anything green.
6. Pittsburgh
PA is known for having one of the best St. Patrick's Day celebrations in all of Pennsylvania.
Their celebration is called "St Patrick's Day Blast," and they host a parade that ends at the Cathedral of Learning.
It is such a big event in Pittsburgh, that it actually takes place on the nearest weekend to the 17th. The streets are filled with people wearing their green, yellow, white, orange and blue clothes that dance to live music which is heard throughout the streets.
7. Los Angeles
This is the home of some of the best fun St Patrick's Day activities parties in Southern California where they have parades, pub crawls and celebrations that last well into the night.
8. Philadelphia
PA is a must-attend for any Irish person who wants to celebrate their heritage and experience the magic of this holiday in the birthplace of America.
The city hosts one of the oldest and largest parades in all of the US, which includes over 100 units every year.
9. San Diego
CA is home to dozens upon dozens of events in honor of St Patrick's Day that has people traveling near and far just to attend them. There are also "Blarney Boulders" that are hidden throughout the city, which typically contain green beer inside to celebrate St Patrick's Day.
And there you have it! Now you know where to go for this year's St. Patrick's Day celebration... but one thing is for certain: wherever you decide to travel, definitely wear green.
Final Thoughts
I think this article would be a great article to analyze as it is very similar to the "Where is the Biggest St Patrick's Day Celebration 2024?" title that I have chosen. However, there are some differences. Like for example, the first article doesn't mention if their data was based on a specific year or not, while mine is based on the year 2024.
Also, where my article is more about "Biggest St. Patrick's Day celebration", this article seems to be more about the cities that are suitable for celebrating it with their many events and activities that attract people from around the world. This would be a great opportunity to use our interactive map in order to compare these cities.
